Waste disposal units are becoming increasingly popular owing to local councils introducing compulsory
waste separation schemes, says Franke, leading kitchen solutions manufacturer.
Recycling household waste is now mandatory in many areas across the UK and consumers are buying more
and more waste disposal units as they are a convenient means of getting rid of food waste.
Some local councils, such as Herefordshire Council and Worcestershire County Council, are encouraging
their use by offering residents a rebate if they purchase a waste disposal unit.
Franke has recently added waste disposers to its appliances portfolio and the models are uniquely
designed to free the kitchen of organic waste with minimal use of water and electricity, on account of the
exceptional magnetic motor found in each waste disposer.
The technologically-advanced motor reaches high speeds instantly, using less energy and yet producing
more torque and horsepower than many other waste disposal units.
John Swain, product manager for Franke, said: "Councils are right to support the use of waste disposers.
"The Government has stated that the amount of waste going to landfill must be reduced and the onus to do
this lies with the local councils.
"They want residents to install waste disposal units because foodstuffs can account for as much as 25 per
cent of household rubbish and can therefore eliminate a quarter of waste going to landfill.
"Food waste disposers further help the environment because they grind down the waste into fine particles
which are then flushed away through the normal pipe system. When it reaches the water treatment plant it is
then transformed into a soil conditioner."
Each Franke waste disposal unit carries extended or lifetime warranties that cover all service and parts,
demonstrating the Franke commitment to quality.
