Franke, the world's largest sink manufacturer, has designed a hands-free Sorter
system which will make under-sink waste management more convenient.
It is expected that demand for this product will continue to grow as councils
across the UK introduce waste separation schemes in order to reduce the amount of
waste going to landfill.
The hands-free KickMatic (700K) Sorter is operated by a touch of the pedal and
opens easily to give access to separated compartments for easy segregation of kitchen
waste.
John Swain, product manager for Franke, commented:
"The UK has a target to reduce the amount of biodegradable municipal waste going
to landfill by 65 per cent before the year 2020, so ecological waste management in the
home is essential.
"Councils across the country are already working towards this target by adopting a
new range of waste management practices, such as waste separation, which has been a
standard process in parts of Europe, Australia and the US for many years.
"The Franke Sorter system makes the separation of waste convenient and we believe
that its easy operation will encourage people to be more responsible when it comes to
dealing with their household waste."
An animation CD has been produced for Franke customers, which demonstrates how the
Sorter can be installed very easily into a 500 or 600mm cabinet, taking just 15
minutes.
Franke has also launched the Sorter Motion, which has a smooth closing action
(Blum motion).
